A native of the Veneto region, Gianni
Visentin, borned in 1938 trained as a painter before turning
to sculpture. Over the course of a long and flourishing career he
has become a master of that medium, bringing to every work a glimmer
of humanity that form deep within.
Every sculpture is suffused with light. Visentin lived in France from
the mid 1960s until the late 1970s, and here be came into contact with
the country post avant-garde artistic and cultural milieus. It was while
staying in Paris that his latent passion for sculpture surfaced, and
began to take precedence over his painting. Yet despite changing his
medium.
Visentin remained faithful to his subject matter, continuing to dwell
on such themes as environment protection and the recuperation with love,
good and evil, the restive modern spirit and metaphysical thought he
expresses anger at assaults on the environment, hand won peace and the
pursuit of solidarity, freedom and reconciliation.
These topics provide an endless reservori, the core of his being from
which he draws his creativity and new fables. pelling away the rugged
surface, he penetrates the human dimension, probing the hidden depths
of each one of us. Visentin's works are powerfully expressive, captivating
the onlooker with their pure form and an ethereal quality that sets them
on a spiritual plane.
The sculptor has experimented at lenght with different materials, resulting
in original works based on rare metals and sundry oxides.
Visentin's sculpture has been exhibited in numerous
cities on every continent. His works appear in the world's
greatest museum and have be presented to many notable personages,
including Pope John Paul II, Reagan, Bush, Saddam Hussein
and Gorbaciov. |
